Corresponding to the desire of the Voies Navigables de France (VNF) to revive the quays of the Rhône, led by Jean-Philippe Amy, director of the PataDôme d’Irigny theatre, the space l’Île Ô will open its doors in 2022.

At the junction of Pont Galliéni and Avenue Leclerc, in the 7th arrondissement of Lyon, six white cubes arranged on a floating concrete base will give the public access to a new place of culture.

Music Theatre, hall with orchestra pit, dining area, covered panoramic terrace… L’Île Ô will allow, in the heart of Lyon, on the river, a program of shows, animations, receptions and trainings.

The Dutch architect Koen Olthuis (Waterstudio-NL) was selected for this 11-metre wide and 45-metre long space. This floating construction specialist at UNESCO will sign his first work in France.

At its side, Studio DAP is responsible for designing the internal and external acoustics of this innovative cultural and environmental 1200 m2 structure.
